Mourning

Dream referenced from DD board titled ‘About My Mother’ by the user: all3lja (copied & pasted as-is):
I”ve been having this recurring dream. I start off as a little girl at the beginning of a long pitch dark hallway. I can hear my mother calling me but I can not see her or find her. As I walk further down the hallway I age every few feet or so untill I am my present age, once I get to my present age I wake up. My mother just passed away about 2 weeks ago and I have had this dream every night since. Can anyone please help me with this? I also had a simular dream when my father died 19 years ago. I never found out what it meant and after 2 years the dreams with him calling me stopped. Thank you for any help you can give me….
Possible interpretation I gave to the dreamer:
There’s a possibilty that you’re mourning since you brought up your parents deaths. And your dream is to let you know you’ll get through it as you’ve done in the past (walking through the hallway of darkness). You can also look at the hallway of darkness as mourning itself and you are walking through that hallway but not alone. You will find your way to the present aging, maturing (in some cases) handling it better, acceptance of what’s now behind. The long hallway could be represented of how long you’ll be in that period of darkness and it will be determined by you; when you come to realize (wake up) what’s happened or happening and how to handle it. From this perspective, the dream is possibly directing you to keep following his/her/the voice which will draw you out of darkness and/or time of mourning into your present (the new future).
The process before giving the possible conclusion(s):
all3lja:
I”ve been having this recurring dream. I start off as a little girl
Halima:
Representing the past
all3lja:
at the beginning of a long pitch dark hallway.
Halima:
Represents the start of a timelime of feeling loneliness possibly; unclear, blind
all3lja:
I can hear my mother calling me
Halima:
Someone is with you; near you even in the darkness…
all3lja:
but I can not see her or find her.
Halima:
denotes you are aware of this (someone being with) because you attempt to find her follow the voice even though you cannot see or find her.
all3lja:
As I walk further down the hallway
Halima:
Progress you aren’t at a stand still. some people may stay put in the dark, but not you. you keep walking til you get something
all3lja:
I age every few feet or so
Halima:
Progress still moving on away from the past onwards to the “future” what’s ahead of you…
all3lja:
untill I am my present age,
Halima:
Your “future” that will become your new present
all3lja:
once I get to my present age I wake up.
Halima:
wake up = consciously aware that the past is the past and you’re strong enough to move forward and into your new present. Keep looking ahead moving forward as you’ve done in the past.

Sorry for your losses. Hope this helps you reach a more accurate interpretation of your dream.
